Culture
When you celebrate, we’re there! Heidelberg Distributing Company’s culture is one of celebration. We appreciate, engage with and recognize our excellent associates year-round through programing and associate-driven initiatives. We work hard to celebrate our communities by supporting not-for-profit organizations that bring services, arts, education, research and hope to our neighbors. Our associates are proud to be a part of Heidelberg’s culture, working alongside community partners throughout Ohio and Kentucky!
Appreciation
We believe a culture of appreciation brings out the best in our associates. We observe National Appreciation Days for our many departments, host bi-annual appreciation celebrations for associates at each of our locations. Heidelberg Celebration gathers associates to celebrate teamwork and build relationships between departments. Our annual summer Company Picnics bring our families together to celebrate.
Recognition
Recognizing great work comes in a variety of shapes and sizes at Heidelberg Distributing Company. Our Years of Service Program honors the work of our dedicated, tenured associates and their commitment to professional excellence. Quarterly, we recognize a group of associates at each of our locations in an Associate Spotlight Feature. Every month we feature a Heidelberg Star on our website and internal newsletter, the star shares the story of their journey at Heidelberg in their featured interview. Weekly, our corporate office receives a list of associates who are recognized by their General Managers for special kudos. These names are shared over our social media channels. We also encourage our associates to recognize one another; building a culture of gratitude. We have a peer appreciation program called High Five, where associates are able to say something positive when they see something positive. These High Five cards are available at all of our locations for all of our departments!
Engagement
We facilitate experiences that encourage our associates to build strong relationships. By bringing departments together for the sake of collaboration, or a friendly competition, we find we do our best when we truly get to know our teammates! Our locations have associate-led leadership groups to encourage community and fraternity in our workspaces. Victor’s Pride, named after Victor the Lion from our company crest, is a group of spirited associates who organize engagement programming. Lion’s Table is a not-for-profit group that helps raise money for different charities. These groups help plan and facilitate volunteer work, group fitness and wellness challenges, races, blood drives, and fun work-community events like bake sales, chili cook-offs and more!
