→ The Brewers Association (BA) has introduced four new beer styles as a part of its 2021 Beer Style Guide. Included in the updated guidelines are these new styles as defined by the BA: Kentucky Common Beer, New Zealand-Style Pale Ale and India Pale Ale and Belgian Style Session Ale. The new styles will take effect for the 2021 Great American Beer Festival competition which is currently slated to take place this fall.
→ 2020 was a big year for spirits in the U.S. For the U.S. liquor industry as a whole, supplier revenues were up 7.7% in 2020, according to the Distilled Spirits Council of the U.S. It was the biggest percentage increase in 18 years and the biggest dollar increase on record. Over the last 20 years sales have increased from $11.7 billion in 2000 to $30.3 billion in 2020.
→ Churchill Downs Racetrack announced it has reached a multi-year agreement with Kendall-Jackson and La Crema to designate their wines as the preferred wines of the Kentucky Derby. The four-year partnership will see the wines of each winery poured at all Churchill Downs Racetrack events from 2021 until 2024.
→ On March 10, Treasury Wine Estates announced the sale of wine labels Meridian, Beringer Main & Vine, Beringer Founders’ Estate and Coastal Estate to The Wine Group for $100 million in an effort to focus on higher-end wines.
