HEIDELBERG ASSOCIATES ATTEND
WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP NATIONAL CONFERENCE
It was an invigorating and information-packed four days for six women of Heidelberg who attended the national Women in Leadership (WIL) conference in early November in Phoenix. WIL attendees experienced a multi-faceted program carefully designed to accelerate personal and professional growth.
Representing Heidelberg were Louisville district manager Stephanie Adams, Corporate Project Manager/Print, Digital, Web Kelly Fine, VP of Fine Wine Sales & Education Mary Horn, Assistant Director of Information Technology Holly Hoffman, Chief of Staff Kathryn Oakes and Director of Supply Chain Cherri Wallace.
WIL, which celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2019, is an immersive-learning experience which includes deep dive learning sessions, small group discussions and six keynote speakers each focusing on one of the six competencies of the Women in Leadership model. Heidelberg attendees also participated in the alcohol-beverage break out session sharing industry-specific hurdles. There were more than 70 women from the alcohol beverage industry at the conference which was sponsored in-part by Constellation Brands. At the wholesale tier, here are some of the key takeaways Heidelberg can use to grow.
Be an ally. Champion each other, even if you’re on the bench. When other people’s styles and approach are different from your own, get curious on how to meet in the middle in communication.
“Point to the person that passed you the ball after you score. Compete together.”
-Abby Womach, US Women’s National Soccer Team, two-time Olympic Gold Medalist and FIFA World Cup Champion
Be inclusive. Creating an equitable environment in words, tone and body language to create high performing teams.
“Solicit other people’s voices, put everyone’s fingerprint on the blueprint.”
-Carla Harris, Vice Chairman, Managing Director and Sr. Client Advisor, Morgan Stanley
Be influential. Coming from a place of being fearless, authentic (walk the walk) and relational while impacting organizational change and decisions.
“Shift to curiosity from a state of frustration and defensiveness.”
-Molly Fletcher, Founder Molly Fletcher Company
Heidelberg supports a safe and equitable space for women and minorities and looks to grow diversity and inclusion in 2020.
