|→ Corona hosted a livestream benefit concert featuring electronic artist Dillon Francis and Diplo on Tuesday, May 5, on Twitter as well as “Live from Home,” Live Nation’s Virtual Concert Hub. → In an interview with Yahoo Finance posted on May 8, National Beer Wholesalers Association CEO and President Craig Purser stated the impact due to the cancelation of March Madness, the lockdown during St. Patrick’s Day and Cinco DeMayo as well and the delay to the start of the Major League Baseball season will have a big hit on the beer industry.
“We think there’s close to a billion dollars’ worth of impact directly to the beer industry as it relates to just the loss from the product alone,” Purser said. “This was the worst time this could happen.”
The NBWA who represents more than 3,000 independently licensed beer distributors across America says that on-site consumption of beer at restaurants and bars is the highest on St. Patrick’s Day every year. On-site consumption still accounts for about 20% of total beer consumption in America and that losing consumption at all of those events will spark a historic backlog of untapped kegs moving past their expiration dates.
→ The NBWA has created a new webinar for members to watch. It provides a beer industry outlook for summer 2020 and a policy update. It also addresses selling beer and staying safe during COVID-19.
→ Kait Anthony, Ohio Manager for Barefoot Wine and daughter of Lorain VP & GM Kevin Knight delivered Gallo Wine’s ROAR program (Rescue Our Amazing Restaurants). She worked with the top local Barefoot on-sale partner, Ziggy’s, to provide 60 meals to Mercy Health nurses. Kait thanked Ziggy’s staff with wearables and Heidelberg helped deliver Barefoot Bubbly to thank hospital staff for Nurse’s Week. This a perfect example of ROARing with Barefoot. Thanks to Barefoot and Kait!
