→ Congrats to all the teams handling Mark Anthony brands! We celebrated selling two million cases for the 2019 year in early October!

→ Congratulations to René Carter, Director of Information Technology, and Holly Hoffman, Assistant Director, for being honored as “Tech Power Players for the Class of 2019” by Technology First in Dayton. ComSpark, who gives out the award and has magazine publications throughout the country, selected them for the honor. An awards ceremony was held on September 25 at the Dayton Club.

→ The 2019 Great American Beer Festival was held October 2-4, in Denver, Colorado. Heidelberg was well represented with Chris Emmons, Director of Craft, Seth Bullock, Ohio Valley District Sales Manager Craft Beer, Kevin Murray, Dayton Beer Brand Manager, Mike Vander Woude, Director of Corporate Communications and Seth Holston, Video Production Specialist all in attendance.

In addition to attending “opening night” of the festival on Thursday, October 2, the group also made visits to supplier partners Breckenridge Brewery, Funkwerks and one of the company’s newest brewery acquisitions Odd13 Brewing. Buzz From Ohio Valley

→ Lauren Riegel, Ohio Valley sales professional, was promoted to District Manager in the wine division in May.


Buzz From Toledo

→ Jim Cameron, VP Sales & Marketing, served up chicken and ribs at the University of Toledo October 5 Homecoming tailgating festivities. His sister Julie assisted him and was quoted in a tailgate story in ToledoBlade.com. Jim is a former UT football player and coach.


Buzz from Cincinnati

TEAM BUDWEISER SUPPORTED THE 15TH ANNUAL MARTY BRENNAMAN GOLF CLASSIC AT BELTERRA CASINO ON SEPTEMBER 23. LEFT-TO-RIGHT ARE MARKETING MANAGER LYNDSEY LONGSHORE, GENERAL MANAGER TOBY COSTON, JIM MOEHRING (OWNER, HOLY GRAIL) AND GSM DAN O’HARA.

→ Foodandwine.com recently conducted a survey of NFL stadiums to see how many different selections of wine and beer each one offered. Seattle came in first place with 139 selections, followed by New Orleans (81), Atlanta (77), Dallas (68) and Cincinnati (66). We’re proud to say that Heidelberg’s portfolio is strong, with more than dozen wineries represented (Woodbridge Chardonnay is a big seller along with seven other Woodbridge selections) and 15 breweries (Bud Light leads in sales). Congrats!

→ The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden opened a local craft beer garden in October called Hops, which will overlook a new walkabout for kangaroos and other animal habitats. The beer selections also will feature a rotating tap of Goose Island, Breckenridge, Elysian and Golden Road.


Buzz From Lorain

→ Several wine sales professionals took an educational trip to the Biltmore Winery in Asheville, North Carolina in September. A special thank you to Michelle Krumpleman, Biltmore representative, who was an amazing hostess!

→ Lorain held a photo pet contest for cats and dogs in October with 40 entries in the Funniest, Cutest and Most Loveable categories. The “parent” winners each received a 6-pack of 12 Dogs of Christmas!

CONGRATULATIONS TO COLUMBUS! WE HELD A “20/30 CELEBRATION” ON OCTOBER 18, EXACTLY 20 YEARS AFTER WE MOVED INTO OUR CURRENT FACILITY. AND 30 YEARS AGO (OCTOBER 16, 1989) HEIDELBERG COLUMBUS OPENED FOR BUSINESS. FITTING NICELY INTO THE PARTY WAS A GROUP OF PEOPLE WITH SIMILAR MILESTONE ANNIVERSARIES: DAVE UPPERMAN (30 YEARS); JASON SAYLER (20 YEARS); JOHN “JD” DONNELLY (30 YEARS); JOE LOWREY (30 YEARS); STU SOLLITTO (30 YEARS); AND GREG MAURER (25 YEARS).
